Queen Kong Track Featuring Patton

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Queen Kong have put an enormous samplefest up on their CPU page.
The track, called “Cubing My Ball” is a dense Jazz, Metal, grindcore, Black Metal and everything else conflagration featuring German sensations Rammstein, shit-eating psycho GG Allin, former Communists the Red Army Choir, former gay David Bowie, Fantomas frontman Mike Patton, the opening grind assault of the track gives way to a sensational Jazz interlude by QK vocalist Amy S, followed by more chaos, before the song wraps itself up for its credits rolling “all-time-low” finale.

best of all,its completely FREEEEEEEEE!

New Fantômas/Melt Banana Split

Tuesday, September 13th, 2005

Unhip Records has released a 3″ CD and a 5″ vinyl split of a new Fantômas song and a new Melt Banana song.

Fantômas SideThe amazing split between FANTôMAS and MELT-BANANA is finally ready. Some copies have already ended up on e-bay (copies that were originally sold at the recent Fantômas european shows), but please don’t pay ridiculous prices for it and buy directly from us because there’s no need to worry that the record will sell-out anytime soon (also because it hasn’t been sent to distributors yet). And we haven’t started to sell it mailorder either, mainly because we’ve been (and will be) around the country for festivals so the mailorder will be resumed on Monday September 5th. Sincere apologies to all the people who have ordered the record, please have some more patience and you’ll get it!! Also to those who sent e-mails while I was on vacation, you’ll get your answer asap. We’ll be also accepting paypal payments from now on. The records are all hand-made (this is also why it took us a while to have them all packaged) and comes in 2 formats: the vinyl is a 5 inch while the cd is square-shaped and the diagonal of the square is three inches long.

Melt Banana SideNeedless to say they’re incredibly neat to look at and to be held in your hands, which should be enough of a reason to go out and get it. The split single contains two brand new exclusive songs. Fantômas (who are Mike Patton, King Buzzo, Trevor Dunn and Dave Lombardo for those living under a rock) go crazy on their “Animali In Calore Surriscaldati Con Ipertermia Genitale” (animals in heat overheated with genital hyperthermia), while Japan’s noisecore legends Melt-Banana gave us the wonderful “Cat In Red”. The artwork was drawn by Igort, a friend of ours who also happens to be one of the most talented artists in the world of comics. Check out his website www.igort.com , he’s also responsible for the Unhip Records logo.

“Bungle is dead.”

Monday, September 12th, 2005

This was posted on the news page of The Selected Discography of Trevor Dunn back on August 16th:

Bungle is dead. Please realize that. I’m going to SF next month to finally liquidate our storage space. Buncha useless gear we’ve been paying $225 a month for it to sit in dust for five years. Yep, that about sums it up. I’m happy. One of these days I’m going to publish a history of that band and I’ve got the archives to back it up! pack-rat that I am.

Wellspring digs deep to find ‘Freaky’ film
Indie distrib will ‘Live’ for pic rights

By IAN MOHR

TORONTO — Indie distrib Wellspring has acquired all North American rights to the stop-motion animation musical-comedy “Live Freaky! Die Freaky!” by John Roecker.

Pic, which features voice work by a number of alt rockers including Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, is an outrageous retelling of the Manson family murders, set circa 3069.

Pic was produced through Hellcat Pictures, headed by Tim Armstrong, front man for pop punk band Rancid.

Also lending their voices to the pic are actor-helmer Asia Argento, Lunachick’s Theo Kogan, AFI’s Davey Havoc, X’s John Doe, the Go Go’s Jane Wiedlin and members of Good Charlotte and Blink-182.

Songs in the pic were penned by Faith No More and Imperial Teen keyboardist Roddy Bottum.

Wellspring will roll out the film in 2006, focusing on midnight screening slots before a DVD launch.

Pact was brokered by Wellspring’s Marie Therese Guirgis and Peter Paterno and Jeff Silberman of King, Holmes, Paterno & Berliner, who repped the producers.
