So who were all those people on stage?

It seems quite a few people have been asking that exact question. So to clarify, here were all the people you saw on stage during Peeping Tom’s performance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien.

Mike Patton – Lead Vocals
Rahzel (Roots) – Beatbox
Imani Coppola – Backing Vocals/Violin
Dan the Automator – Mixing/Effects
Rob Swift (The X-ecutioners) – Turntables
Joel Hamilton (Book of Knots) – Guitar
Stuart Brooks (Dub Trio) – Bass
Joe Tomino (Dub Trio) – Drums

Update June 3rd: I mistakenly credited D.P. Holmes, Dub Trio’s guitarist, as being on stage with Peeping Tom. Joel Hamilton, Dub Trio’s producer/engineer, was the guitarist for this performance. Thanks for the correction mauro.

    I was wondering…
Why was Imani Coppola there? And why did she sing half of the first verse?
In her myspace-blog, she says that she only learned that she was singing with them the day before the show…(oh, and she explains that it’s some band with Dan the Automater and Dub Trio…)
Did Patton catch a cold or something, so he needed someone else to deal with the falcetto?
    …I don’t know, maybe I just think too much…

  2. Reek Richards Says:

I wondered the same thing, but honestly I really liked her singing, and her violin sounded perfect. I wished Patton was a little louder, but it was still great.

  3. Martincore Says:

Oh yeah, I didn’t mean to say anything bad about Imani’s, performance, she was great, and fit right in… including the violin, which I thought was a strange idea, when I first saw it, but it worked like a charm :)
Oh: and the rest of the band were great too ;)

  4. mauro Says:

the guitar player was actually Joel Hamilton from Studio G in Brooklyn. He’s also in the Book of Knots and Players Club.

As I understood it, it was always the plan to have another singer(Miho Hatori) on the show. Apparently Miho became ill, and there you have Imani.

yeah pattons voice was WEAK prob to much FANTOMAS/ZORN…not many people can do that shit…and appears to be taking it’s toll…album sounds good(but that’s all PRODUCTION)..think he’ll need all the help he can get if they ever tour with this band.

anyway aside from all the bitching… WHAT A PHENOMENAL LINEUP.

  8. Pascal Chimbonda Says:

Imposter – what’s with all the negative comments? All production?!!!!!!!!!

  9. Mark Bowen Says:

It’s down to the live mix, not vocal weakening – gimme a break!

I really like the lineup .. I hope that this or similar will be the “touring Band” version of Peeping Tom. I would guess that Imani will be doin the female vocals for the 2 tracks that have them and doing backup for the rest. Can’t just have her standing around for 9 of the 11 songs or whatever … I thought that she was an added bonus on Mojo and look forward to hearing PT live.
I wouldn’t put too much in to the sound quality of that vid … Its a LQ DL and the sound always suffers.

Yup, roll on the Astoria on 17 July!!! I’m taking my camera – it’ll be worth getting my head kicked to fuck by security!!!

just saw Peeping Tom in Mpls. a few days ago and was quite impressed. Plus Rahzel did some solo beatboxing that just blew the crowd away. They were opening for Gnarls Barkley, I wish I could have seen a full set… did seem like they were on the stage for a while though, I guess it was just so good I didn’t want it to end.

I think I have listened to the c.d. at least 3 times and some of the individual songs more, and I have had it less than a week… good stuff.

I’ve been trying to find information about who else was up there with him besides Rahzel and Norah Jones(pretty sure that was her?). Any info on the tour line-up? Is it changing at different stops or the same for the whole tour?

    Thanks! :)
