I’m not sure how recent this is, but there is an interview with Mike Patton on the Suicide Girls website.

hmm… interesting interview. I didn’t know he had problems with his hand. Not that it matters much, but it’s a nice little story.
May 30th, 2006 at 8:26 AM
I wonder what Mikey did to his hand?
May 30th, 2006 at 8:44 AM
Didnt he have a car crash? Or maybe just too much wanking.
What I remember most about Mike’s early FNM days was his fondness of masturbation.
May 30th, 2006 at 8:45 AM
i’ve heard that he cut himself with the bottle in 1991
May 30th, 2006 at 12:06 PM
Maybe the car crash FNM had?? Wasn’t Mike driving??
May 30th, 2006 at 2:02 PM
Cut with a bottle, but I believe it was much more recently.
May 30th, 2006 at 2:06 PM
Yeah, it was during FNM’s second show, the shooting for the video From Out Of Nowhere. There were broken bottle pieces on the stage and somehow he broke his hand on it. It was in late 1989.
May 30th, 2006 at 2:07 PM
Oops, I mean he broke it on them. Bad grammar.
May 30th, 2006 at 6:42 PM
Thats kool man, i really hope this tensticks guy really read this interview, its nicely structured and interesting.
Am startin to feel the anxious period before the release of a tomahawk´s album…….. Goddammit!! how long we will have to wait, i know its alot, but does anyone have a clue about it??
May 30th, 2006 at 8:47 PM
1989? That doesn’t make any sense. All the news articles I’ve found about it are much more recent (2002 onward). Plus, in the SuicideGirls interview he makes it sound more recent too. Like he’s just learned how to cope with it.
May 31st, 2006 at 2:33 AM
Nahh – he hurt his hand way back, I remember reading it in NME or something, it was before the car crash, something to do with a glass I think.
Star man – I agree Tomahawk can’t come out quick enough, Duane Dennison is a legend. Hope Mike aint bringing any of his hip hop moves to this one!!!
May 31st, 2006 at 5:59 AM
Hahaha,Mark,I think he won’t do that, and Duane won’t let him, he’s more like Les Claypool (they seem like brothers to me) kind of musician, they don’t like hip hop
(but that’s just what I think)

Oookayyy howabout stick muncher hahaha;)
May 31st, 2006 at 1:21 PM
HICK? Try ‘Shitkicker’ or ‘anyone on Ricky Lake’…..
Yeah, I read that he smashed it into a glass – on the Angel Dust world tour – as he was flailing about on stage.
I remember seeing FNM at Gateshead (supporting GnR, hahahaha!!) – Patton was going on about shoving a machete up Princess Diana’s arse…..
…..it was quite funny at the time. Not really tasteful now, though, since she’s dead.
I’ve actually been on the ‘Henri Paul/Diana/Dodi death-crash’ tour – ya gotta love those Frenchies!!!!
May 31st, 2006 at 2:26 PM
No, it was in 1989, I read about it myself, in this interview. It’s in like a form of a picture though, can’t really explain it. He mentioned himself it was during his 2nd or 3rd show with FNM, which was obviously during 1989. Yeah, he broke it on a broken beer bottle that many years ago. And it’s still fucked up. Now that’s something.

Mike Patton Injury Forces Hand Change

Mike Patton Switches Hands
Rocker Mike Patton has been forced to learn to use his left hand after destroying the nerves in his right hand when he smashed a bottle onstage.
The former Faith No More star refuses to let the accident affect his life, and has learned to transfer everything to his left hand.
He says, “I’ve got a gimpy hand as a result of an onstage ‘adventure’. Me and a bottle didn’t get along too well.
“You know what it feels like when you wake up in the morning and you’ve slept on your hand? Well that’s what my right hand feels like all the time.
Cut tendons, cut nerves, and the nerves didn’t grow back right.
“Occupational hazard. I’m fairly used to it now, and I’m pretty damn good with my left hand.”

Thanks detective…but when ? when ?

ahhh ha ha ha ha ha!
whats the matter with you you big baby !
Doesn’t matter if the article came out yeasterday he could’ve done it 5 years ago and anyway I don’t really care, I was having a laugh
June 2nd, 2006 at 5:30 AM
Has anyone noticed during live performances with FNM Patton had a tendancy to drop his mic or just seem to loose grip on it – must be that dodgy hand I reckon…. Maaaaaaaaaaan I gotta get a life hahaha.
June 2nd, 2006 at 5:51 AM
Man,you have eagle eyes hahaha, I didn’t noticed that, I just saw on FantomasMelvins show that he didn’t had his wedding ring on, but on that Peeping Tom thing he had it again (damn hahahaha)
June 2nd, 2006 at 12:07 PM
Yeah he drops it at least twice during a show – and I thought he was just clumsy…
I think he’s a lucky bastard – if he has a wank (I mean a jerk off for our USA friends) it’ll feel like someone else ha ha ha!
June 3rd, 2006 at 9:21 AM
Don’t worry, Pope – just sit on your hand for an hour and you’ll get the same experience……
……yeah, some of our words are lost in translation to the yanks.
Like “Fanny”.

June 4th, 2006 at 7:37 AM
Priceless.

To put an end to all your bickering about the hand injury, in this 2002 interview, Patton says it happened in 1988…which is pretty much before any of us knew who he was.
—–
NT: Actually, I wanted to ask you about the Mr. Bungle tour. You had to be carried off stage because you jumped and landed on the drum kit. And then about a year later with Faith No More during the Angel Dust tour, you did flips and landed on your back…God, you must have injured yourself at least once?
Mike: Yeah, usually not those ways. Usually when I was out in the crowd, that’s when I’d get injured. You never know…sometimes I just hit myself by accident, hit a cymbal stand, you know? Or God, I can’t tell you how many times my bass players left their marks on me with their head stocks.
I’ve gone to the hospital. You know, just stitches, nothing too bad…well, I take that back. I have no feeling in my right hand because of something that happened with Faith No More, in like ‘88. Forgot about that, I’m so used to it now (shows massive scar on hand and wrist) See the scar, it start’s there and ends there.
NT: You can still move it? How many stitches was that?
Mike: (laughs) A lot. When I asked the Doctor he just laughed and said “millions,” you know, its micro-surgery. I lost two days to anesthesia, it was really bad. You can hurt yourself on stage.

Thank you for proving me right! I think I read in the Faith No More biography that it was during the shoot for From Out Of Nowhere, in late 1989. It couldn’t have been 1988, because the Real Thing was released in June 1989 and his first show with them was in 1989. Yeah, it happened on one of his first shows with them.
June 15th, 2006 at 1:40 PM
Oh who gives a fuck !!!!!!!!!!!
Next topic, how many times has Mike had athletes foot ?
June 17th, 2006 at 8:37 AM
Four.
June 17th, 2006 at 8:38 AM
No, sorry – I meant three.
