Who else thinks the most beautiful music is the second half of “when good dogs do bad things” and the first part of 4/20/05 wednesday? When I hear these parts of these songs I just think how incredible Patton could be if he just took them all the way.
Still trying to catch up with all his stuff that’s he’s put out, hit and miss. But when those parts pop up I’m like all you restless souls, God Dammit just grab it by the horns and KILL IT MIKE!!!!!
I don’t know; maybe that’s too harsh and I’ve set the bar too high (or he has), just nothing seems too come close to my favorite hard rock album “Angel Dust”
But I hear these parts and how with seemingly a flick of his wrist he transforms the tone and mood into something incredible.
I’ve seen him live and those high pitch screeches are his voice (when good dogs do bad things), the range is incredible.
Alright all you haters flame me for being a Patton noser.
Browsing through the local rag yesterday, I stumbled upon an ad for a gig by Gnarls Barkley at Glasgow Academy on October 27th. Support is provided by………..Peeping Tom!
Spot on. The 2nd part of ‘When Good Dogs..’ is absolutely mind-blowing.
I would highly recommend the last album from the DEP-’Miss Machine’.
Patton doesn’t appear, but there are plenty highlights throughout.
By far the most interesting thrash, jazzcore extreme (call it what u want!) band out there right now.
Talking post FNM for the most part. KFD is an excellent album but Angel Dust is rare in that it has a hardcore element that’s hard to pin down. It does’nt come right out and blare out at you but by the time you’re through the whole disc you almost feel like you need to wash it off you.
Than KFD and AOTY went down incrementally in their intensity IMO. Still good stuff.
But listening to this DEP with Patton it makes you wish he would have stayed with DEP and left Tomahawk behind, IMO.
After searching for something that I knew Patton had in him and than to only have 4 songs of, well, )))%RT@#)$%$&Y$(%*YT(*T()R)*#)(*#
And I’m with the camp that says FNM now is like watching your grandma put lipstick on. It would be better but time has past and music has evolved. Something on the lines of DEP is where he belongs for his wild side.
Hey I don’t know how to post a new blog (or if we can), I can save it but then I don’t see any way of posting. Anyway here’s a clip of Mike Patton’s actin skills. How he didn’t get nominated for an Oscar I don’t know. Nah but he’s pretty good. I think he should stop making bad music and devote his whole time to acting for the sake of people’s ears.
I’ve seen it, it’s…….hm how can I put this…colourfull great movie, but I think just for Patton fans.I don’t think it will come in stores near you,I ordered it like 2 months ago from amazon,so …do that, you won’t be sorry.
I’m not sure you can go to amazon and buy it anymore. But you can find it online.
Maya you are one of the most politically correct person I’ve seen on any blog (it’s meant to be a compliment)
Matt, I have calculating infinity and I see your point. But I think with Patton fronting he might be able to change the tone and mood like he’s able to do.
Coupled with thier unrelenting style maybe we could have a whole album on the scale of “when good dogs”. I just think Patton needs to let loose, just for one album every 4 years.
does anyone else realize that Faith No More sucks? I mean seriously. That shit is 90s alternative crap that is laughably bad, along the veins of RHCP or Pearl Jam or Nirvana etc. etc. no one should ever take that shit seriously. Angel Dust doesn’t SUCK outright but that’s no reason to listen to bad/mediocre music! I wish people would stop talking about gosh darn FNM. I shouldn’t worry however, history will quickly pass them by without another glance.
Ah yes, FNM suck so much that I’ll even bother to log onto one of their blogsites just to make my point!
90′s alternative crap?!? This was the Ipecac solution that finally rinsed away the last dregs of the (poison)ous, slapstick-comedy like 80′s hair metal movement.
Perhaps BananaUndone would like to don his spandex one more time and lead a revolution to return us to the days when Def Leppard, Poison & Motley Crew ruled the world!
Looool I didn’t know this was a FNM site!! Why does it have updates on John Zorn then? haha you guys are hilarious. Just cuz its easiest to listen to doesn’t mean its good doodz. But wuteva peace!
The only details I have seen was a small advert in the local press. Gnarls Barkley are playing 3 dates in the UK-London, Glasgow & Manchester (I think) with PT as support at all shows.
Batman,
Uh, I was referring to Ipecac the ever so useful medical product, NOT the record label.
GNARLS BARKLEY – The chart phenomenon will be playing shows at Glasgow Academy (27 October), Manchester Academy (3 November) and London Brixton Academy (5)
Support will come from Mike Patton’s ‘Peeping Tom’ project.
I hope that they add a more low-key headlining gig in each of the cities they are playing. Peeping Tom playing at King Tut’s in Glasgow? What a mindblast!
Wondering how there could be not one phantom concert, but three that are’nt posted anywhere. Even their own labels site does’nt show these dates.
I got so worried that I might miss them here in Seattle that I called the two places to make sure that The Who, (who is playing tonight here) still does’nt have them as their opening act.
So. Andy is it? (the site manager that works for Ipecac) what’s the deal? Are there more dates that we should know about, and what’s the deal with the website?
I’ve done a google search for shows and they pulled up ticket sellers with no dates. But maybe they’re just showing events in the U.S.
Money has everything to do with everything, j/k
Guess what Ipecac has listed on their website now………
Any Floyd fans? going to see Roger Waters tonight, he’s doing the whole Dark Side album. Never seen him live but have seen Floyd before without him. Hope he’s not lost it that much. Showing my age.
patredux, Water’s playing the whole of that album? I saw Pink Floyd play it all in its entirety at Earls Court sometime around 92-96 (losing my memory) and it was fantastic but there’s too many parts that require the other personel if you ask me it might be like watching anyone doing it. After their falling out and then that kind of reunion for Live8 he looks like he got the taste for it – but frankly I thought he was embarrasing ” hey its great being back with these guys – yeah!” – how cheesy. I’d rather see Gilmour to be honest but hope you enjoy it.
Can you imagine thought a FNM reunion and JM or MP saying the same thing that would be funny and rather than thinking its cheesy I’d be cheering!
Yep the whole of the album from start to finish without stops. This is why I went, also to see him, but he’s way too old. Although he could carry a note and I did’nt really mind when he would bracket down on the high ones I was very dissapointed in how much he did’nt even attempt to sing (other members sang whole songs) like almost all of the Dark Side album.
For the most part is was an amazing night with a great band playing the best of Floyd at sound levels I only dream of at home. Yep he’s nothing but a shell of what he once was, I did’nt like his political rantings either. They were stupid lyrics for cheap applause.
I’ve seen Gilmore, and it’s no wonder he left Waters behind. Gilmore can sing better than Waters now. For 63 years old Waters looks and acts like a man stuck in the past and fading fast.
I had awesome seats, sat just off center, second row back (well stood for the most part).
One more thing, I could’nt believe all the burnouts there. I thought I was at an afterhours party for the Star Trek convention.
I’m looking long and hard at that Amersterdam show, could kill two birds with one stone :;
Like everyone else I really like it when you do a post on here and it comes up “awaiting for moderation” and then the next one 2 minutes later about nothing goes trhrough no problem.
I noticed the glasgow date doesn’t apear on the ipecac PT calendar, yet the other gnarls dates do. and some guy on myspace claims to have received an e-mail from ipecac confirming their no-show.
quite shonky evidence, I know, so I’m awaiting further confirmation.
I will be seriously unhappy if they aren’t playing. £50 down the drain because of misleading advertising. and I can’t get a refund if it’s only the support band that’s changed.
I’m glad I was a bit short of dough this month otherwise I would have purchased tickets right away like yourself.
Don’t despair totally though, as there has been no official confirmation as yet. I’m sure Gnarls Barkley will put on a decent show but without the PT connection you probably wouldn’t have looked twice at them. If the worst comes to the worst you should have no probs getting shot of the tickets. Judging by the amount of people with ‘Crazy’ as their ringtone, there are feckin’ loads of Gnarls Barkley fans out there!
Omniwan,
The 3rd Tomamhawk album has been near completion for some time now. The music was in the can ages ago and all that is needed is Patton’s finishing touches over the top. But, seeing as Peeping Tom are in full throttle at the moment, I don’t think the album will be reaching a shopping mall near you until well into 2007. Best things come to those who wait!
Has Patton suddenly developed an aversion to Glasgow? There are no Peeping Tom headlining shows scheduled at the end of November either. He must have decent memories of the city, having broken the most consecutive nights played record at the Barrowlands with FNM (until some piece of shit like Ocean Colour Scene equalled it).
Come on Mike, play a Glasgow gig. I promise I will sort out anyone in the audience who starts shouting for Faith No More tunes! (It still happens)
I’ve heard rumours of a glasgow show in november…but they’re from a third-hand friend-of-a-friend-of-an-online-stranger source. I’m sending spies out today to see if there’s any substance.
Too true. Though at times it can provide as much amusement as the gig itself, watching all these baffled faces as the Fantomas start the 1st few bars of ‘Delirium Cordia’!
“What the feck’s this? I came here to hear ‘Epic’ or ‘Easy’. I’m going to just stand here shaking my head and looking at my watch every 5 minutes!” Mongs.
bungle at the LA2 in 1995 on the DV tour was the worst example of this. most of the audience was pretty restless and you-fat-bastardy, but we were hemmed in by a welsh man-mountain who spent the whole gig yelling for girls of porn and screeching ‘your mother sucks eggs in hell, patton!’.
I’m going to the Liverpool show – whoooooooooooo!!!
Flower: London fuckers just turn up off the street – they don’t give a fuck who they see; it’s all “so come on – fucking entertain me”.
Trust me, I’m as gentle as a mouse; but when you’ve been kicked in the head by one of the fuckers as they come past shouting ‘YOU FAT BASTARDS’, it’s pretty hard not to go mental.
Any word back from your super-sleuth man in the know re a PT Glasgow show yet?
Pascal,
The fat feckers landing on your head is probably a rarer occurrence these days. It’s more likely to happen at a Tomahawk gig than say, the Fantomas, with their 10-second blasts of brutality. As you know already, these gigs tend to confuse the Kerrang knuckleheads who don’t quite know how to react.
I may be wrong, but somehow I can’t imagine some relic from the early 90′s with his stretched, worn and smelly ‘Real Thing’ t-shirt pogo-ing and moshing at a PT gig. Here’s hoping!
Maybe they should do a ‘Nu-Metal’ special where they round up the last few desperate wannabes remaining and help them fully complete the Mike Patton 91-92 look that they so desperately try to emulate. (Ooooh! It’s so 15 years ago that look!)
Just saw ‘Firecracker’ recently. What a strange & disjointed movie. Quite disturbing in parts. Nice double turn from Patton in full-on angry psycho mode. Fans of David Lynch will appreciate it. I certainly didn’t.
Oh well, never give up hope. Summit might be announced at short notice. The last Tomahawk gig in Glasgow was pretty short notice, if my short-term memory isn’t too hazy!
There’s a lot of love in the room at the moment! Aye, Pope – the two ‘victims’ on T&S looked a right pile of shite; the Geordie bine (as ever) gave a wonderful account of the North-East…..and what was that fat fucker’s earing doing???
Nice one, Ryan, for offering out your copy of FC – Stevie Balderson’s knocking them out from his Dikenga site on region 1, as well (approx $15). I’ve gotta agree that it’s a bit arse, mind – hurts me to say it as I worship the man. I was at the premiere – got evil looks off Karen Black for telling me mate that she was fucking rancid.(when she was in earshot)…
Yeah, apart from the performance of Patton and the dude who played his young brother in it, it ain’t a whole lot to write home about. Don’t get me wrong the film looks great, but just drags on and on. I eventually got through it in about 3 sittings.
You called Karen Black a dog within earshot and lived to tell the tale?. Nice one, but watch out-Rob Zombie & co might be after you!
Yeah Pasc a mini Samurai sword through your earlobe – wow thats so a good look (not) can’t belive the Style Guru’s didn’t make him take that out – or did they put it in? I didn’t see it all.
I take it there’s going to be no big boobs or jokes in this film then ?
I once shared a pizza with Cleo Rocas @@ from that show, d’ya remember her from that show?(you couldn’t forget her when you were young lad )) I was so happy about that at the time hahaha.
Good news, They played PT on Radio 1 last night. On the Zane Lowe slot- “Neighbourhood Spaceman”. It must be the new single. About time he got mainstream recognition in the UK. Must be in no part thanks to the Gnarls Barkley support slot.
Portly Jimbob,
-Did U manage to flog your Gnarls tickets?

Wow, that firecracker clip is intense. Has anyone seen the whole thing? When are they going to friggin release it in the UK???
October 7th, 2006 at 12:13 PM
Yes Omniwan
Walking through blockbusters about a month or so ago I stumble across “Firecracker”. Could’nt believe my eyes but sure enough.
I wrote a review, but I think I’ll pass. I’ll just say I was’nt impressed but I put a lot of blame on the director for the most part.

October 12th, 2006 at 4:37 AM
Well, its on that site – I will be ringing the Apollo venue in Manchester today to confirm if PT are going to be the support.
Andy, haven’t you got got Mike’s mobile number ? Or even of the other guy who runs Ipecac ? Surely you can find out ?
October 12th, 2006 at 6:01 AM
Why would you have Mike’s number?? If you have too much money I can give you mine!!

worrying rumours suggest that PT will NOT be supporting gnarls at the glasgow gig…
October 15th, 2006 at 10:03 AM
Maya – still don’t get it – sorry (!)
Pasc – Where’d you hear that ? It would give a bit of sustance to the supporting slot for GB
Portly Jim – Where’s the Evidence ? At least I gave some Evidence
Patredux – You should review concerts for a living fella !
Omniwan – Does anyone play Wales ?
Me – Why you’ve not rung the Apolllo yet ?
Me – You’ve not had time plus you’ve lost the number you dumb ass
Me – Oh.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:04 AM
Portly Jim,
What rumours, and where did they come from?
Update please, as for the 1st time in my life I’m considering going to a gig purely for the support band.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:05 AM
Like everyone else I really like it when you do a post on here and it comes up “awaiting for moderation” and then the next one 2 minutes later about nothing goes trhrough no problem.
October 15th, 2006 at 10:06 AM
Like that.
October 16th, 2006 at 1:38 AM
re: glasgow
I noticed the glasgow date doesn’t apear on the ipecac PT calendar, yet the other gnarls dates do. and some guy on myspace claims to have received an e-mail from ipecac confirming their no-show.
quite shonky evidence, I know, so I’m awaiting further confirmation.
I will be seriously unhappy if they aren’t playing. £50 down the drain because of misleading advertising. and I can’t get a refund if it’s only the support band that’s changed.
October 16th, 2006 at 6:15 AM
Portly Jim,
I’m glad I was a bit short of dough this month otherwise I would have purchased tickets right away like yourself.
October 16th, 2006 at 10:21 AM
just had it confirmed. no glasgow PT show.
shite. shite. shite.
anybody want to buy some gnarls tickets?
October 16th, 2006 at 12:52 PM
does any1 know if there will be a east coast peeping tom tour? they need to come to NC!!!!
October 16th, 2006 at 8:20 PM
they were just there opening up for the who
October 17th, 2006 at 1:12 AM
Has Patton suddenly developed an aversion to Glasgow? There are no Peeping Tom headlining shows scheduled at the end of November either. He must have decent memories of the city, having broken the most consecutive nights played record at the Barrowlands with FNM (until some piece of shit like Ocean Colour Scene equalled it).
Come on Mike, play a Glasgow gig. I promise I will sort out anyone in the audience who starts shouting for Faith No More tunes! (It still happens)
October 17th, 2006 at 3:07 AM
I’ve heard rumours of a glasgow show in november…but they’re from a third-hand friend-of-a-friend-of-an-online-stranger source. I’m sending spies out today to see if there’s any substance.
October 17th, 2006 at 12:38 PM
Yeah, ya gotta love those fuckers that shout “You fat bastards” every one second.
Or throwing a pint at someone you’ve just paid to see. It’s usually cockney fucking twats, as well.
Rub-a-fucking-dub-me-auld-china.
October 18th, 2006 at 5:11 AM
Pascal,
October 18th, 2006 at 12:44 PM
Ryan – yup, deffo sounds like you’ve been to a Laandan Patton gig! Bunch of fucking cunts.
October 19th, 2006 at 12:49 AM
bungle at the LA2 in 1995 on the DV tour was the worst example of this. most of the audience was pretty restless and you-fat-bastardy, but we were hemmed in by a welsh man-mountain who spent the whole gig yelling for girls of porn and screeching ‘your mother sucks eggs in hell, patton!’.
October 21st, 2006 at 5:03 AM
Portly Jim: That Welsh bloke’s heckle sounds like it could have come from the Dandy; very PG-13.
I used to love people crowd-surfing; it’s so discreet to punch the fucking cunts straight in the head when they come over you. God, they deserve it.
October 21st, 2006 at 5:11 AM
Peeping Tom in dePetrol!
Moonchild in den AB!
Allemaal in november
JIHAAA
October 21st, 2006 at 11:26 AM
Mike Pattons all about love how can you punch people in the audience when they are there to see him?
October 23rd, 2006 at 4:57 AM
Is anyone going to the Peeping Tom gig at Koko (Camden) on 26th Nov?
October 23rd, 2006 at 6:15 AM
…OR ITALY 18TH?
October 23rd, 2006 at 1:45 PM
I’m going to the Liverpool show – whoooooooooooo!!!
Flower: London fuckers just turn up off the street – they don’t give a fuck who they see; it’s all “so come on – fucking entertain me”.
Trust me, I’m as gentle as a mouse; but when you’ve been kicked in the head by one of the fuckers as they come past shouting ‘YOU FAT BASTARDS’, it’s pretty hard not to go mental.
Do you not agree????
October 24th, 2006 at 1:47 AM
Portly Jim,
Any word back from your super-sleuth man in the know re a PT Glasgow show yet?
Pascal,
The fat feckers landing on your head is probably a rarer occurrence these days.
Little Flower,
Aw Bless!
October 24th, 2006 at 2:45 AM
Lets just try to be nice and why not give them a kiss instead of going down to their level? Remember that poem “I’d Pick More Daisies”?
October 24th, 2006 at 11:52 AM
with a name like little flower I’d thought you would at least come up with the “catch more bees with honey” cliche.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:57 AM
Ha ha ha ha !
It was me just fuckin’ about – c’mon “A little flower”?
Goog god I can’t believe you lot fell for that !
October 24th, 2006 at 12:20 PM
Hahaha! Pope, you bitch! You had me feeling bad for what I said!
Right, I’m going – just realised ‘Trinny and Susannah’ is on…….
October 25th, 2006 at 2:49 AM
What so you could shout “You fat Bastads!”
I thought you hated that Pasc !
Didn’t make them look any better did they ?
October 25th, 2006 at 3:12 AM
Trinny & Susannah?!?
Maybe they should do a ‘Nu-Metal’ special where they round up the last few desperate wannabes remaining and help them fully complete the Mike Patton 91-92 look that they so desperately try to emulate. (Ooooh! It’s so 15 years ago that look!)
Just saw ‘Firecracker’ recently. What a strange & disjointed movie. Quite disturbing in parts. Nice double turn from Patton in full-on angry psycho mode. Fans of David Lynch will appreciate it. I certainly didn’t.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:04 AM
Ryan O’Reilly, how did you see that ? Is it available for rental in the uk?
October 25th, 2006 at 9:07 AM
Monsignor Benedict XVI,
I got an imported all-region copy through E-Bay. I’m finished with it. If you send me postage costs I will gladly pass it on to you.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:31 AM
Nice1 fella whats your email – or best do it through paypal ?
October 25th, 2006 at 12:16 PM
ryan…no word on glasgow. I think it was just an ugly rumour.
October 26th, 2006 at 8:22 AM
Your Holiness,
Send your details to:
jamiebhoy18882003@yahoo.co.uk
I will reply and we will sort the details out.
Portly Jim,
Oh well, never give up hope. Summit might be announced at short notice. The last Tomahawk gig in Glasgow was pretty short notice, if my short-term memory isn’t too hazy!
October 26th, 2006 at 10:49 AM
Oki doki fella me lad
October 26th, 2006 at 1:10 PM
October 26th, 2006 at 1:20 PM
Pascal,
Yeah, apart from the performance of Patton and the dude who played his young brother in it, it ain’t a whole lot to write home about. Don’t get me wrong the film looks great, but just drags on and on. I eventually got through it in about 3 sittings.
You called Karen Black a dog within earshot and lived to tell the tale?. Nice one, but watch out-Rob Zombie & co might be after you!
October 27th, 2006 at 4:48 AM
Yeah Pasc a mini Samurai sword through your earlobe – wow thats so a good look (not) can’t belive the Style Guru’s didn’t make him take that out – or did they put it in? I didn’t see it all.
I take it there’s going to be no big boobs or jokes in this film then ?
October 27th, 2006 at 11:53 AM
Pope – nope, there’s no boobs or fart jokes; however, there is male rape.
And guess who does the deed?…….
October 27th, 2006 at 11:55 AM
Mmmm….dunno Kenny Everett ?
October 29th, 2006 at 2:49 AM
Correct!!!! And its done “in the best possible taste!!!”
October 30th, 2006 at 5:33 AM
hahaha – showing our age or what!
October 31st, 2006 at 9:52 AM
Fucking A, Popester!! Reg Prescott was a personal favourite…
October 31st, 2006 at 9:57 AM
I once shared a pizza with Cleo Rocas @@ from that show, d’ya remember her from that show?(you couldn’t forget her when you were young lad
)) I was so happy about that at the time hahaha.
October 31st, 2006 at 1:15 PM
Yeah big knockers and oozing more sex appeal than a nymphomaniac ! And that voice – Whoa ! Down boy !
November 2nd, 2006 at 5:48 PM
What a shower of Cupid Stunts!
“I’m really just a tambourine, the world is shaking me”.
November 3rd, 2006 at 10:26 AM
Hahaha! Christ…I feel soooooo fucking old. Nice to know there’s other bordering middle-age fuckers on here!!!
Now where’s my pipe and slippers?
November 6th, 2006 at 3:46 AM
ryan – given that gnarls tickets were going for less then a quid on ebay, I repeatedly harassed ticketmaster till they coughed up a refund.
considering going to liverpool now…
