Apparently, and I don’t know if this is currently known because I haven’t seen any “news” about it on this website, but Tomahawk have set a tentative release date of June 19th for the new album titled ‘Anonymous’…
This is news to me…

Please stop reporting on who Mike Patton is working with and report on who he is not working with.
April 4th, 2007 at 2:17 PM
Maybe it’s a little bit boring to see only Patton related news, but it’s even more boring to read the furious and repetitive complaints about it.
April 8th, 2007 at 5:06 PM
yea, might as well start your own site and whack off to news about roddy.
April 9th, 2007 at 1:49 AM
You could think this place was run/financed by Patton.
I challenge who ever works with CV:
Try and seek out news about the other guys.
I´ve pitched news about the other FNM guys which I truly believe people would like to hear, but it wasn´t published ..and this was the previous CV.
IF you will only continue to report on Patton, call this place Patton´s Place or something.
April 10th, 2007 at 12:48 AM
Hey I just wrote that there is a upcomming gig that some people might want to attend. There is not much publicity about these thing together with fennesz, so it could be interesting to some of the readers here.
I am terribly sorry that it is another mike patton thread
but the other guys just dont seem so prolific. Anywaysz I am attending this performance in Amsterdam and I’m looking forward to it.
April 10th, 2007 at 1:03 AM
I got no problem with that, but CV seems to only promote Patton which seems a bit odd. The other guys are “prolific”, you just have to seek out the news.
Billy Gould is out on tour with HARMFUL – you can find tour dates here:

April 15th, 2007 at 3:01 AM
Hey I have a question – where the fuck is the info on Secret Chiefs 3? Their last tour kicked more ass than any Mike Patton-related wankery could. And they have new releases coming out – a new comp, new singles, a new album soon, and a Masada release on Zorn’s Book of Angels series. This is very bungle related, especially since Trey is going to be touring with Bar and Danny in Australia! wtf!?
April 15th, 2007 at 11:26 PM
Hello everybody complaining, You CAN send in you’re own news items. If more people start to do it this site might become better than it is right now.
And on a side note, does anybody know when these sc3 7” are becoming available online ?
April 18th, 2007 at 9:19 PM
bosbeetle I am attending the Melkweg show as well.
The SC3 tour was great, but the 7″‘s were kind of dissapointing.

New tomahawk bio since new news posts take about a month to show up:
Anonymous
Tomahawk’s third release, Anonymous, links the outfit with the Native American culture that bore its name. A thirteen-track album that reverentially explores and reinterprets the darker, more recessed ancestral music created by North America’s indigenous people, the title reflects the countless individuals who contributed to these songs but went un-credited throughout history.
At the turn of the millennium, Duane Denison (U.S.S.A, ex-Jesus Lizard) toured with Hank Williams III, frequently finding himself on Indian Reservations. “I was somewhat disappointed by the Native bands.” Duane explains, “They were usually very conventional, kind of blues and country type stuff, or too much like ‘new age’ music. I figured there must be native music somewhere that was more aggressive, spookier, and more kinetic.” Duane began to research the culture’s music; about a year into his research he found books that were written around the time of Teddy Roosevelt’s presidency, a period in U.S. history when Indian culture and artifacts were in vogue. The books, dated to the early 20th century, recorded transcriptions of the songs contained herein. The titles: “Totem,” “Mescal Rite 1,” “Song of Victory” are all true to the names uncovered by the people who originally transcribed them, although Duane says “Red Fox” was altered to be more accessible. One song, “Long, Long Weary Day,” is a non-Native American “parlor song” song of the same time period, and also un-credited.
Now a three piece, Tomahawk recorded Anonymous in two-parts. Duane Denison and John Stanier (Battles, Ex-Helmet) recorded guitars and drums (respectively) in Nashville while Mike Patton (Peeping Tom, Fantômas, Ex-Faith No More) added vocals and samples at Vulcan Studios in San Francisco.
Release date: June 19, 2007

News Flash (?????)
I wouldn’t have thought it’d be posted here that there’s info on the new Tomahawk album on the ipecac website.

April 26th, 2007 at 5:09 AM
Also news to me – new Peeping Tom song (sorta) on the myspace site, We’re Not Alone redux (very different from album version)
April 26th, 2007 at 8:53 AM
“We’re Not Alone redux” was also released on iTunes on the 24th.
April 27th, 2007 at 12:44 PM
Regarding Tomahawk – does anyone know why Kevin Rutmanis left/got sacked or whatever? Ipecac says they’re a 3 piece now – no bassist?
I’ll do the job!
Looking foward to hearing Anonymous – gonna be very different me thinks.
April 27th, 2007 at 7:02 PM
Jesus Christ!!, they last good news a read here in almost a year…….only to find out later that Rutmanis left the band……Brilliant!!
Sure we want to hear some fresh music from this crazy party, countin the days…..
April 28th, 2007 at 1:41 AM
Heheh, I got to hear a small portion of the second track in “Anonymous” – can’t say a lot about a minute-long piece, but it’s easily the happiest Tomahawk I’ve heard, in a bizarre and wacky sort of way of course. =) No actual lyrics here, just Patton doing a crazed medicine man chant.
April 28th, 2007 at 11:03 AM
Where did you get it????
April 29th, 2007 at 6:29 PM
Medicine man rant? Chooka chooka ooga wigga wa?
Sounds good.
April 30th, 2007 at 1:25 AM
Hehe more of like hjunammaheeeoooh hjmanneeoh jammanaaaeoo waahnamamano jummannnanenoooh =) Got it from this a friend contact in last.fm, but since it’s so short you ain’t missing much yet.
April 30th, 2007 at 4:39 PM
While I imagine this posting will only contribute to the “This site is only about Patton blah, blah, blah,” just wanted to mention two quick things:
1) I just found out that Patton guests on one track of a recent Tzadik release: Jamie Saft Trio’s Bob Dylan Tribute album “Trouble.” The whole project is a jazz reinterpretaion of, like, 10 Dylan songs. Patton sings on one of only two vocal tracks…everything else is instrumental. The whole thing is amazing…if you like jazz or if you like Dylan, or, like me, both. Even without Patton I’d buy this in an instant. But the fact that Patton chose my all-time favorite Dylan song, Ballad of a Thin Man, is like, really making my day. The original is still the best, but damned if he did’nt make it his own. If you just want the one song, you can purchase it on itunes for .99.
2) FYI, I got to catch Peeping Tom twice in one weekend (Dallas and Austin) and they sounded really tight. The Dallas show ended with Lovage, while the Austin show ended with Get Up! Punk! from the x-ecutioners. However, the highlight of both shows was the cover of Bobby Womack’s “Across 110th Street” (Jackie Brown soundtrack). God damn.
Anyway, for those that might want that information…well, there you go.
Don
April 30th, 2007 at 5:07 PM
>If you just want the one song, you can purchase it on itunes for .99.
Or you can download it for free on a p2p such as Soulseek or Limewire.
April 30th, 2007 at 6:33 PM
I was at the New York show and Rahzel and Jennifer Charles were there. It was quite a gift.
Oh, and thanks for the correction in my Native American chanting, Ari. You really cleared it up for me! I understand everything now!!
April 30th, 2007 at 9:16 PM
Oh, just read Star A Dreamers question. I good friend of mine is in a, well, band (probably shouldn’t mention his name…or the band’s) who’s lead singer is good friends with King Buzzo. Apparantly, the reason Kevin is no longer in Tomahawk (or, more importantly, The Melivins) anymore is…well, the poor bastard went kinda crazy. Like, crazy-crazy…and yes, substance abuse was surely part of it. Last year the Melvins web site said that Kevin had gotten ‘sick’ and alluded to his having contracted Hepatitis A (or ‘B’ or ‘C’…whichever is the really bad one) and that’s why he left the bands. Unfortunately (or ‘fortunately,’ cause Hepatitis ain’t no walk in the park), however, it was a few-too-many hits of acid, and probably 15,000 other things. Anyway, that’s why the Melvins are now a 4-piece with two drummers (and sound better than ever)…stil, kinda sad.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:54 PM
A damn shame for Kevin and the rest of the band, though if you are correct about the facts I appreciate you sharing it here – I’ve too been pondering over the reasons for his exit. I wonder though if he was around long enough to record the bass sounds for Anonymous?
And to ms. drac: always glad to straighten out cultural misunderstandings
May 1st, 2007 at 5:26 AM
I thought Rutmanis was the straight guy
May 1st, 2007 at 11:06 AM
Thanks for Kevin info (he wrote ‘Ass Joker’ on my copy of first Tomahawk album) was also wondering what was up. Peeping Tom info just makes me jealous…
May 2nd, 2007 at 5:48 AM
Hey, i knew Rutmanis had his drugs issues, but i never thought it was THAT BAD, really a shame, i guess the mezcaline is gonna be legal before we see him playin on Tomahawk again, anyway, still listening and watching paralized the Tomahawk´s concert on “Live Sol & musica TV” on 2003, this is by far the best Tomahawk´s live show i ever saw, you have to check it out, there it is some stuff on youtube if you don´t have the full concert, ohh, and about the hairnet, he already had it in place by then……
May 3rd, 2007 at 4:43 PM
For the rest of cv:
“Yes, RaDiCaL DuDe, it’s a great show, the best moment of the concert is when they play “Desastre Natural” really good, with special mention to the vocal part by Patton, whose lyrics were especially “adapted” for the french people: “…Y a nadie has de culpar, y esto no es un examen…………ES EL FINAL, FRANSÉS”
By the way, I am listening to the new Tomahawk right now, and I must say that there is no possible comparison with Peeping Tom.
Patton needs to be dark. Or weird. Or extremely sexual. Or singing for a good composer.
May 4th, 2007 at 5:57 AM
Oye Point & Click, de donde sacaste la musica nueva de Tomahawk??, parece que todos la han escuchado menos yo, dime porfavor de donde la bajaste….
May 4th, 2007 at 8:54 AM
Go to the topic “New Tomahawk bio” in caca volante.
Some guy called “da bear” posted a coment (the 11th) with a rapidshare link to a 77 MB zip file with the album at 256kb/s, mp3.
Be careful, some track names are wrong.
Track 8: “Omaha Dance” is OK.
Track 9: “Omaha Dance” should be “Sun dance”.
Track 10: “Sun Dance” should be “Mescal Rite 2″.
Track 11: “Mescal Rite 2″ should be “Totem”.
Mis favoritas son “Mescal Rite 1″ y “Sun Dance”.
May 7th, 2007 at 8:08 AM
Cool!!, i got it on p2p, and yes, i noticed that there are songs wich have same names, my favorite was “ghost dance”, sounds melodic and fun, gotta listen more to it cuz am still diggin the album, but i gotta say my first impresions were quite good, it is an interesting work, and i would rather compare it with SC3´s work than fantomas, and i like SC3 pretty much so this was a reaaly good experience….wanna buy the CD already…Bring it on Tomahawk!!
thx anyway man..
June 3rd, 2007 at 3:59 PM
Okay i just came back from the Patton & Fennesz show and i was disappointed. It might be the most boring show i have seen of mike, even though it lasted last then 60 minutes
In short, Mike and the guy on the right with his cool-apple-laptop, were painting a wall of music with a bit of screaming here and sound effect there. The concert started one hour late, which i hate. It should have started 20.30 but both of them didnt come onstage until 21.30. Then they just put up this wall of noise with some screaming and sound effects until 22.10 when Mike said “goodbye, thanks for listening”. They came back quickly for 2 encores which all sounded the same. Mike didnt seem to inspired. He hid behind his table most of the time. The only fun thing was when Mike said: “Boy if you come to a show like this, there must be really nothing going on in your town. That’s all I can say about it”. And he was right. That was the only words to the crowd btw. Too bad, I have seen Mike improvising before with Rahzel and that show might have been the best i have seen. This one was just boring. Sorry
June 4th, 2007 at 8:00 AM
Obviously, this kind of electronic/experimental/noise music is not your cup of tea, Peter. That’s okay. I figured from the huge crowd that there must have been quite some people who came to see Patton and expected something different. I could tell also from the comments that I heard around me (“Do you think it’ll be like this the whole time?”). I’m a fan of Fennesz and Patton’s solo work. For me the show was amazing! Mike didn’t seem uninspired at all. It was great to see him working with the mic and creating noise with his equipment. His comment about “nothing else going on in town” was obviously tongue-in-cheek and playing it down what they were doing. Despite some people leaving the venue (not that much, I expected more judging from the people who seemed out of place), the crowd went crazy in the end. Three encores! After the second encore, the crowd (including myself) kept screaming for more for 15-20 minutes. They had to turn off the “after-show” venue music again, so Fennesz and Mike could come on stage again. They were visibly excited about the response. So, all-in-all a great night with a excellent performance from both!
June 4th, 2007 at 12:10 PM
3 encores? then i missed the last one because I saw only 2. And 3 encores or not, the whole thing lasted less then 1 hour (including the 2 encores). There were a lot of people walking away. But like you said, to each his own
June 5th, 2007 at 1:37 AM
well it’s probably a different thing live, and with improv you’re gonna get good shows and bad shows but so far all the patton/fennesz stuff i’ve seen on youtube isn’t exactly ringing my bell.
like you say, to each his own but i just got quite bored with it and went off to watch the PT henry rollins slot instead
June 8th, 2007 at 3:58 AM
actually having watched this clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l60k_BgSh1I
my opinion was raised a wee bit
June 8th, 2007 at 7:03 AM
The show was what I expected, it was more like mike patton solo, or the stuff he did with moonraker/ together with lombardo and dj spooky/ hemophiliac
June 8th, 2007 at 10:14 PM
Pure fucking wankery. Quit fucking around, Mike. Get back together with the guys in Bungle and Faith No More.
