Chuck Mosley is back!

Chuck Mosley

We haven’t heard much from Chuck recently, but I just got word that he’s been hard at work:

Chuck Mosley is currently recording a new album at Ante Up Audio recording studios in Cleveland, Ohio. Multi-platinum producer/engineer Michael Seifert (Tori Amos, Regina Spektor, Dave Matthews, Bone Thugs ‘n Harmony) is currently working on the new release with Chuck. The album is sure to please fans new and old, with a mix of hard rock and acoustic numbers. Visit the Chuck Mosley website for more details!

If you’ve curious about what Chuck has been up to since Faith No More, his new bio will fill you in:

A distinctly intriguing character, Chuck Mosley is an African American singer/songwriter and a pioneer of the musical genre commonly referred to as “Rap Rock”. Mosley was the original front man of the groundbreaking and highly influential band Faith No More. He was featured on their debut album “We Care a Lot”, and their second album, “Introduce Yourself”. Mosley was born in Hollywood, CA, but raised in South Central Los Angeles and Venice. He joined Faith No More between 1984 and 1985 replacing Courtney Love (Hole) as lead singer. Chuck parted ways with FNM in 1988 for a number of reasons, including creative differences with his band members and issues with substance abuse. Mosley went on to form a new band, Cement. Cement released two albums: “Cement”, and “Man with the Action Hair”. Both albums were distributed by Dutch East India Trading. The band toured the United States and Europe promoting their music. Mosley also spent a brief stint as lead singer in revered hardcore punk band Bad Brains. In the early 90’s, Mosley relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. He has spent the last several years writing and compiling new material while raising his two daughters, Sophie and Erica. Throughout his hiatus, Chuck has continued to be sited as a major influence by prevalent groups such as Korn, Limp Bizkit, and others. He was recently featured in Billboard Magazine in spite of the fact that he hasn’t released a record in several years. His original recording of “We Care a Lot” remains as popular and relevant as ever. It is currently the theme song for the Discovery Channel show Dirty Jobs, and it was featured prominently in the major motion picture Grosse Pointe Blank (starring John Cusack, Dan Aykroyd, and Minnie Driver). He retains an extremely loyal “cult” following amongst fans, both in the United States and overseas. Chuck recently teamed up with multi-platinum producer/engineer Michael Seifert (Reversed Image Productions) and inked a production deal for a new full-length album, which is currently in production at Ante Up Audio, a recording complex in Cleveland, Ohio. A supplemental documentary (produced by Bryan Porter of Enigma Digital Media) chronicling the making of the new record is also in the works.

Many thanks to Ronnie Brannan of Reversed Image Unlimited, LLC for passing along this information.

I must say that i really liked Mosley’s voice in Faith No More. The best song for me Faster Disco of his work in the band.

This song Tractor is really nice, in my opinion; hope he does it alright.

Chuck Mosley = Very nice singer.

PS: @Feminist Deepthroater: No need to offensive words, you know? Patton kicks asses btw. Chill for xiao lin’s sake

Holy shit! Tractor is awesome! Chuck Mosley is the Bod Dylan of punk rock!

  7. Mebert78 Says:

Yea, I also did not Mosely in FNM. His voice was just not my thing and compared to Patton he did not match up. But I respect him for what he did with FNM. The song “Tractor” is pretty awesome, I must say. I feel like he’s really improved his singing techniques. I like!

  8. Mike (not Patton) Says:

You guys were right. “Tractor” is pretty bad-ass. Love the fooling rhythm before the drums kick in.

  9. Ronnie Brannan Says:

Thanks for posting this, Andy! I know Chuck and the Reversed Image Unlimited crew appreciates your help!

Chuck Mosley holds a special place in my heart for his early work in fnm. thank you for the two of seven albums i hold dear to my ear!!

    Tractor rocks!!

i often wonder how fnm would have sounded had chuck continued to set the bar and create the unfamilier sounds recorded in the late 80′s

omg chuck, thank you , thank you. for the handful of songs me and my ex gf know all the words to.

  12. Hermetico Says:

Ok, I saw FNM twice live, it was incredible. Mythical status of Mike Patton often gets on my nerves, but I don’t think it’s his fault, really. You see FNM live (or hear the albums, whatever), you realize that both singers were (are) just 1/5 of the band. VERY good singers, but just singers. Every single member of the band is doing he’s job on an epic scale. Bottom line, Patton and Mosley are equally good, my opinion. But since here we speak about Mosley, there is one difference. He’s DEFINITELY less of a nerd. It’s not something that makes him better than Patton, there’s nothing wrong with being a nerd, if you’re good at it, but it is a difference. Mosley has some different qualities, he’s into it without hesitation, without reasoning, all soul. The Man With The Action Hair is one of my favorite albums ever. Some songs from his work with FNM are one of my favorite songs ever. Tractor is great, it plays on repeat since 9AM this morninig. I’m soooo glad he’s coming back I lack the words to explain it. I just hope he’ll play in Belgrade soon enough. That’s one concert I’d like to see.

    kickass!

  14. TX asshole Says:

I’m a little late on this but I’m very thrilled that Chuck is still doing music. I want to hear more demos that he recorded for the real thing. i love contrasting ‘new improved song’ and ‘the morning after’. both versions work well for my ears. I think Chuck rights better lyrics than Patton, no offense to anyone.

As far the FNM reunion… i think its lame that no US dates have even been hinted at. I am not a Jon Hudson fan, although he has improved his playing a lot since the 98 tour where he kept screwing up on every song. But why reunite with him over Jim Martin or Dean Menta or hell even Mark Bowan…he never did nothing to no one.
