Jim was great but its an irrelevant discussion – Jim left at the end of 93 and the band that we know and love as Faith No More has been a band with out him since then. And that is the band that have gotten back together – the Album of the Year FNM.

actually Martin sounded better then Hudson, I think Hudson sounded too commercial

Even if Martin didn’t write or worked on any song on the Angel Dust album except Jizzlobber he sounded perfect for the album.

Awesome News! I’m actually more worried about Patton than Jim Martin. If Pattons recent vocals and lyrics are any indication he might have a Faith No More song left. He’s undeniabely talented, but most of his hip hop stuff has been pure cheese. Fantomas and Tomahawk are okay. There a couple songs I like from Lovage and Peeping Tom, but I’m really hoping that his approach to Faith No More will be a little more conventional than his recent albums. His second solo project just sounded to me like an album of listening to Patton eat dinner.

About Jim Martin- the guy may not be the best guitarist in the world, but his solos were always amazing. There was a beauty to the way Jim Martin played, and he had one of the best Metal tones I’ve ever heard in a guitarist. That being said he plays best in his comfort zone. That was a zone that was breached on Angel Dust. From then on the band moved beyond where he wanted to go. For this reason Hudson is a better choice. I don’t think Hudson is as creative in the studio as Martin (It’s really not even close) however, Hudson is the far better live guitarist, and he allows FNM to explore their entire catalog with ease.

The only way you bring in Jim Martin is as a guest performer for a few older songs (maybe with Chuck Mosely?) Otherwise, Hudson has to be the man. I can’t imagine Jim trying to play Cuckoo For Caca! He’d be a big distraction.

At any rate this is great news. I hope they come to San Fran soon!
