RMQG15 made a great case for the dillemma of "covering" earlier FNM song's without one of the key contributors. It's not necessarily disingenuous, but it's a little bit... dodgy? Really, Jim deserves way more appreciation. Nothing against the new stuff that many people seem to like, but if the band is appreciated strongly for their work during Jim's membership, and it is, that should stand to reason for some capitulation of what gave this band the stellar respect that people around the world have. It'd be nice to see some peace not war

He may have been good before Angel Dust, but if it were up to him we would have never gotten an Angel Dust. So good riddance to him.

they have always favoured faith no more because once upon a time it was a good enough mag, now its emo ridden shite and they now it. fnm hark back to better days in rock/metal and better reading, something you could learn about your favourite bands and not have to worry about the free eyeliner and studded dog collar falling all over the floor then having to wipe your own tears away because middleclass life is darn tough!

Yeah they REALLY did not get along with Jim. They never spoke to him again. They might as well ask Axl Rose to join them. Jim hardly did anything in Angel Dust and that was their best album. Did you ever see "The Making of Angel Dust" where he says "I don't know what they're doing". Maybe it was because the focus was less on guitars, but don't bother dreamin about him being back.

rugbymetal. They still hate him and have fucked him right off. Hes not coming back and apparently said he doesnt want to either. Dont get all pretentious about it fella they are better off without him and ive no doubtthey will perform better as a result. Changing guitarists during the show would make it so cheesy it would be a complete joke.

I have been a fan of Faith No More for well over 20 years, from their pre-Mike Patton work through their breakup in the late-1990’s. I snuck them in between other songs in rotation as a college radio DJ, back when the station was still good – 88.3 WVCR, Siena College – in the mid 1990’s. I have heard a lot of arguments about why Faith No More broke up. The direction the band was moving, personality conflicts, egos in the way, sick of working together, etc.

There is no doubt that when a group of people work together day-in-and-day-out and two or more of them do not see eye to eye – to the point where they hate each other – that a certain amount of dysfunction sets in. This dysfunction begins to eat away at the rest of the group. This dysfunction can lead to people quitting jobs, bands breaking up, and people getting divorced.

My contention is that after the recent announcement of a reunion tour that it should absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, include Jim Martin.

One of the biggest arguments I have heard which led to Jim Martin’s departure from the band was the focus on vocals and lyrics, with less emphasis on the guitars.

Despite replacement guitarists, an accentuated focus on keyboards and bass to compliment the vocals in the albums which were to follow “Angel Dust,” Martin’s presence and virtuosity are conspicuously absent from them. Although good albums in their own right, the element of earlier albums which showcased Martin’s style and technique are missing.

Time apart can often have a healing effect on past relationships. While they may not be (and may never be) completely mended, they can become, to an extent, functional. Hell, I get along with and tolerate people I stopped (for very good reasons) hanging around with. Perhaps the members can go on tour with each contributing to songs that they contributed to and played in the past. Martin could cover songs from “We Care a Lot,” through “Angel Dust.” Trey Spruance (not sure if he is actually touring) and Jon Hudson could cover the later stuff. It would give them a break between sets.

I am a Mike Patton fan. I am a Jim Martin fan. The Cowboy Song. Epic. The FNM cover of “War Pigs.” We Care a Lot. Zombie Eaters. Falling To Pieces. Classic stuff. I’m beggin’ ya. Pretty please with a cherry on top. Add him to your FaceBook pages. Whatever it takes. Ask “Sir James Martin” to join the tour already. Please?
