Avenged Sevenfold Wanted to Cover Mr. Bungle’s “Stubb (A Dub)” But Wasn’t Allowed
AVENGED SEVENFOLD recently recorded a cover version of the BLACK SABBATH classic “Paranoid” for the new Warner Music Group release “Covered, A Revolution In Sound: Warner Bros. Records”, which came out on February 24. [...] AVENGED vocalist M. Shadows told U.K.’s Metal Hammer magazine that the band originally wanted to cover MR. BUNGLE‘s 1991 track “Strubb [sic] (A Dub)” for the compilation before settling on“Paranoid”. “We were very excited to cover a song from MR. BUNGLE, but then we were told that there was a list of songs that we could cover, not choose anything Warner‘s had put out,” Shadows revealed.
Was this because Warner Bros. still hates Mr. Bungle or just coincidence?

I don’t know if they hate Mr. Bungle or not but all I want is a reunion after the FNM one! It is fair. And no, don’t say it’s impossible because many told the same on FNM reunion!

im glad avenged sevenfold weren’t allowed to cover bungle.

I think Avenged Sevenfold are good enough musicians to pull off a Bungle cover but Avenged Sevenfold’s singer is just dreadful. So I’m glad I don’t have to hear “Treading under foot and stinking ass”, etc. from that guy. God, I can just imagine it too. Ick.

Thank God. Avenged Sevenfold sucks.

Yeah fuck that shit. They would surely ruin a great song

Thankfully. I don’t want to hear anyone but bungle sing bungle songs!

That would have been awesome. A7X are big fans of Bungle. Hell, their self-titled (latest) CD has a track called “A Little Piece of Heaven” that is pretty all over the place and has moments that are very Bungle-esque.

That’s freakish dickulance, that would’ve been an awesome way to get Mr Bungle’s name more out there.

i doubt it’s because warner still hate bungle, i’d say it’s more because they are given a very small list of popular/marketable songs and bungle doesnt make that list

because hey, it’s all about the $$$

Omg, Avenged full of crap

That may be why Warner hates them though…Bungle didn’t make them a hell of a lot of money. Maybe they compare the money they got with the Chili Peppers to the money they got with them. You know…cause they’re the “same type of music” and everything. Bunch of deaf bastards.

Yeah fuck the Chilli Peppers!!

A lot of you guys who are bashing Avenged Sevenfold probably don’t realize the quality of their musicianship. They are trendy right now (and I hate their “scene” look…designed to attract teen fans), but they can really play the hell out of their instruments.
I remember reading…probably 6 or 7 years ago how much they loved Mr. Bungle. This was a great missed opportunity. Hopefully the band will cover them live some time or something. Sounds like they are already pretty familiar with Stubb (A Dub) if they had to quickly learn “Paranoid” instead (“Paranoid” is infinitely easier to play, too).

The worst cover of a cv related band must be the dreadful Atreyu covering Epic. OMG it is gash!
I’ve not heard Avenged all that much, but I believe their singer created Austiran Death Machine, who I love…

Coulnd’t be happier that they’re not allowed to cover it. That would have been terrible.

For what it’s worth, on that same album Disturbed covers Midlife Crisis. I just bought it on iTunes…about to listen.

Even more covers: Between the Buried and Me covered “Malpractice”. It wasn’t as bad as the Disturbed (awful band) and Atreyu (don’t really know them that well) covers.

I thought A7X would do a terrible Bungle cover…but listen to “A Little Piece of Heaven”. That IS Bungle, jeez. I hope they do more songs like this in the future!

agreed A Little Piece of Heaven has become one of my favorite tunes (seeing it live really sets it off too) and it absolutely smacks of Mr. Bungle. It’s a shame that Warner Brothers can still give Mr. Bungle fans the shaft from beyond the (band’s) grave.

This avenged sevenfold song is a wannabe bungle. NOTHING will ever even come close to being equal!!!
