Not a bad set list, although I doubt you could ever get 2 FNM fans to be in complete agreement over what should be on these types of compilations.
The 2nd disc looks really interesting. I have most of the tunes but have never heard of ‘I Won’t Forget You’ or ‘New Improved Song’. Are these originals or obscure cover versions?
April 27th, 2009 at 7:21 AM
‘I Won’t Forget You’ is a pretty awesome song, and not a cover as far as I know. ‘New Improved Song’ is an early version of ‘The Morning After’, with Chuck on vocals.
April 27th, 2009 at 7:40 AM
That has to be the worst cover. So which record company is trying to cash in now?
You have NEVER heard ‘I won’t forget you’! Whoo, you are in for a treat, it’s one of their best. It was on the actual, real, first best of ‘who cares a lot’. Bring a spare set of pants…
April 27th, 2009 at 10:54 AM
New Improved Song is a early version of The Morning After with Chuck singing different lyrics. IWFY was unreleased until Who Cares A Lot?
April 27th, 2009 at 1:53 PM
That second disc might be worth it, seeing as how a few of those rarities are only on cassette (GASP!) in my collection.
April 27th, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Yep, “I Won’t Forget You” is a good one. I like Big Kahuna too but Absolute Zero and The World is Yours have really grown on me over the years. Also, start it off with the “As The Worm Turns” remake and it’d be an awesome second CD.
April 27th, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Love the cover but that belongs to Great White’s next greatest hits album. Are they sure this is the very best ultimate greatest hits collection? The title just doesn’t make me feel confident it’s their best. And does Fully Remastered mean it actually sounds better? Wow man.
April 28th, 2009 at 7:38 AM
Cheers folks.
There is no way I’ll be dishing out my hard-earned to buy this, but I certainly will be ‘burning’ those 2 songs. They sound excellent. I never knew they recorded a demo of TMA with Chuck.
When does ‘I Won’t Forget You’ date from?
April 28th, 2009 at 11:20 AM
IWFY I think was from around AotY if not KfaD. Its NOT a smoochy love song lol!! I only wish that the chorus was sang in tune it seems odd to me i mean i dont want it sounding like chris de burgh but just then a straight forward growl would have sufficed!
April 28th, 2009 at 12:15 PM
IWFY you is a song that never made KFAD. Certainly not a song for the faint hearted! Good stuff all the same with a great bass riff by Mr Gould at the start.
April 28th, 2009 at 4:17 PM
IWFY was KFAD sessions, apparently mostly written by Patton. You can hear it right now on you tube if you so wish…
April 28th, 2009 at 11:46 PM
Good More Royalties 4 Jim Martin!! The albums he did with Anand Bhatt really cool – haven’t seen anything else from him though.
April 29th, 2009 at 7:42 AM
Thanks again for the info folks.
April 29th, 2009 at 8:38 AM
“Fully Remastered” sounds kind of funny. It sort of implies there was a previous release that was only “Half-assed Remastered”.
April 29th, 2009 at 8:56 AM
Oh and BTW, to those that were wondering…this is another release from Rhino. Literally a year after “The Works” record they released. Warner has no shame at all.
April 30th, 2009 at 8:50 AM
What’s up with tons of the actual “hits” being left off? No Last Cup of Sorrow? WTF?
I think that there is a real difference between a “greatest hits” and a “best of”. This could certainly qualify as a “best of”, but where was I when “RNR” hit the airwaves?
Nice to see “Everything’s Ruined” getting the treatment though…possibly their best song. Encompasses everything that made/makes them so great!
April 30th, 2009 at 8:51 AM
Billy Gould told me that he has heard that Rhino/Warner has something in the works for remasters…hope he meant the classic albums and not this mashup.
May 1st, 2009 at 8:38 AM
hmm… I’d be interested in hearing a good remastering of Angel Dust, as it does sound a bit dated (for want of a better word) and, I dunno, ‘tapey’. Bring out the depth of punch and crispness and it would be worth doing – I’d buy it again!
May 1st, 2009 at 11:21 AM
The remastered version of Angel Dust (MFSL) is already out, even on vinyl. However I would love to hear the remastered Real Thing…

So……….CD? WHO CARES. Please press a 2xLP. thanks.

While I have to roll my eyes at yet another cash-in, the joke’s on me as I’ll probably pick this up anyway. The big draw is that at least ‘New Improved Song’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’ will finally be released on CD, as far as I know the crackly vinyl giveaways were the only versions available to the public.
Shame that they didn’t use the opportunity to release some other vinyl-only cuts, like the Introduce Yourself-era remixes for example. And leaving off the Patton version of ‘As The Worm Turns’ just seems, well…silly (sorry for the harsh language folks).
May 3rd, 2009 at 8:58 AM
It actually is a cash in i’d say because faith no more play live for the first time in 11 years in June, and this hits album its released June 1st, is that obviously a good timing thing or what? People at Rhino/Warner’s go “yeaaaaaah sounds like an idea, everyone in the 200 email’s or so seem to mention a song called Absolute Zero, well..I guess we may as well add it”.
And some younger guy in the room goes “well I I actually like.. Mr Bungle” and the other senior guy standing in the room goes “Nope, not, not gonna happen”
June 1st, 2009 at 8:47 PM
I was excited as the next man when I heard about this FNM reunion, got my download ticket n everything.
But something about it also stinks. I agree, just one big cash in with the ticket prices, this new cd etc. And what’s with all the not being able to see there faces in new pics – big bunch of ballbags if you ask me.
They had better be good is all I can say.
June 4th, 2009 at 1:21 AM
Hey Mark B.!!!! A little off topic, but remember me, little Patton fan from Slovenia? I lost your email adress, could you write me on maja.patton@gmail.com , I haven’t heard from you for a loooooong time! And by the way-what’s with “best of” collections, hm…so we just buy those songs again…;)
June 12th, 2009 at 3:18 PM
Wow. What a crap job. R’n'R & We Care a Lot? That’s it? Where’s the other awesome Mosely stuff? No Chinese Arithmetic? No Faster Disco or Death March? WTF? And if it’s a ‘greatest hits’ collection, where is Anne’s Song? That song helped put them on the map! Ah well. Cash grab just like the reunion is. No one feels relevant anymore so let’s go play some festivals and re hash what we already did for the sycophantic mass. Nice one guys.
Not to mention not getting Martin or Mosely in on the band they helped create. I liked Patton, but he became a monster in terms of the solipsism that he generates. I notice that the brunt of the ppl I run into who are excited are usually ex fratboys who would drop to their knees for Patton. They also seem to think that the band is ‘MIKE PATTON!!!! (with backup from these other four guys.)’
And I saw their last tour and was not impressed by ‘Coach’ Hudson.
Ah well.
June 14th, 2009 at 2:15 AM
“spanish eyes” is a rarity worth including on the 2nd CD. why put it out only on i-Tunes. man this sounds crazy thing to me.
July 9th, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Oooh,I want!!! A lot of the songs I don’t have..
July 12th, 2009 at 9:55 PM
No only is this compilation the only place you can get “New Improved Song” and “Sweet Emotion” on CD (previously only available on vinyl or bootlegs sourced from vinyl), the version of “Sweet Emotion” on this compilation is complete. The version on the vinyl fades out half way (around 2m30). The version on the CD is over 4 minutes long.

ooo das schutzenfest! glad to see there’s actually some obscure b-side stuff making the cut, would be pretty hard finding the singles these days! glad i got most of em when they came out
although for some reason i’m thinking schutzenfest came out earlier than evidence
in fact i’m almost positive it was the b-side to an angel dust era single
maybe midlife crisis?

Hey Maja, hope you’re well. Did you get to see FNM?
Download was amazing. I felt slightly emotional when they started playing The Real Thing!
Having to sit through Korn and some other terrible music was hard work, but well worth it in the end. Kinda wish i’d gone to Brixton tho.
Btw, to what Poorfool wrote, I think John Hudson does a great job on guitar. For me FNM’s sound has generally been about bass, drums, keyboards and John fills in well. I can’t imagine Mosely and Martin would’ve been up for touring with them again anyway.

No Mark, I didn’t(yet?), I’m thinking about Budapest 16th, but I don’t know if I could make it, I have a little, 8 months old baby now, so maybe next time hahaha
and a little without chemistry
but still cool, I’m still fan hehe
But I heard that it was great, I was watching clips on youtube, but…I don’t know…they seem a little tired to me
July 28th, 2009 at 2:23 PM
Well, they are kinda old men now!!! Watching youtube clips, they seem to have got better as the tour has gone on. Loving the whole Twin Peaks – fire walk with me theme they’ve got going on with red curtains. Have you seen that scene? with the midget in a red suit.
July 30th, 2009 at 6:32 AM
ahaaaaaa, I thought it reminded me of something but I didn’t know from were hahaha, but, yes, yes it’s coming back
(p.s. don’t you call 40 years old people old! aaahahahahaha)

I’ve only just seen this post. I hadn’t of this greatest hits collection when I came across it earlier this month at a “CD, DVD, Blu-ray disc, video game and consumer electronics chain store” (
) and thought for about 10 minutes whether I should purchase it or not (Because I already have everything on disc 1) and decided I’d like to own it because of the “B-sides, covers and rarities”. The name is fantastic…and ridiculous! Haha. I haven’t heard the Mofi edition of Angel Dust yet. My friend tells me it sounds great.
